Braves vs. Astros odds, lines: Advanced computer model reveals picks for April 21, 2023, matchup

SportsLine's Projection Model has generated picks for Friday's matchup between the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves

By@SportsLinePublished: Apr 21, 2023 8:45PM UTC . 3 min read

The Atlanta Braves will open their three-game series against the Houston Astros on Friday night in a meeting between the last two World Series winners. Atlanta is hoping to start a new winning streak after losing to San Diego on Wednesday. Houston has alternated between wins and losses in nine straight games, with its latest outing resulting in an 8-1 win over Toronto.

The game is slated to begin at 7:20 p.m. ET from Truist Park in Atlanta. The Braves are -115 on the money line (risk $115 to win $100) in the latest Braves vs. Astros odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total runs scored is 9 (see the latest lines for every game on our MLB odds page).

Before making any Astros vs. Braves picks, you NEED to see the latest MLB predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

This model simulates every MLB game 10,000 times. It went 331-285 on top-rated MLB money-line picks (+357) over the past two seasons, and it finished the 2022 MLB season on a 20-14 roll. Anybody who has followed it has seen profitable returns!

The model knows Atlanta had won eight straight games before losing to San Diego on Wednesday. The Braves cruised to an 8-1 win over San Diego on Tuesday, with Matt Olson, Sean Murphy and Ozzie Albies each hitting home runs. Right fielder Ronald Acuna leads the Braves with a .367 average, three home runs and 11 RBI.

The model also knows the Astros picked up a pair of blowout wins against Toronto earlier this week, including an 8-1 win on Wednesday. Shortstop Jeremy Pena hit a three-run homer during a six-run eighth inning for the Astros. First baseman Jose Abreu leads Houston with a .266 average and nine RBI, coming off a pair of back-to-back two-hit games.

Now, it has set its sights on Braves vs. Astros. We can tell you the model is leaning Under on the total, projecting 8.6 combined runs, and it also says one side of the money line has ALL the value! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any MLB picks of your own.
