Best NBA bets today
Indiana Pacers at Cleveland Cavaliers (-9, 229.5): 7:00 p.m. ET
The Pacers ended the regular season hot, and that has continued in the playoffs. After disposing of the Milwaukee Bucks in five games, Indiana defeated Cleveland on the road in Game 1, 121-112. Six Pacers scored in double figures, and the team shot 53 percent from the field.Â
The Cavaliers were short-handed without guard Darius Garland. Garland is dealing with a toe injury, and his status for Game 2 is uncertain. Ty Jerome stepped up with Garland sidelined in Game 1, scoring 21 points on a season-high 20 field goal attempts.Â
The Pacers have won three straight in the series, with four of the last six meetings going over the total.Â
Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves (-6.5, 210): 9:30 p.m. ET
Minnesota may be the sixth seed in the Western Conference, but the Timberwolves are one of the hottest teams in the NBA, going 21-5 in their last 26 games. Minnesota made short work of the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. Anthony Edwards led the way, but he did more than just score. Ant Man also averaged 7.8 assists and nine rebounds in the Wolves' four wins over L.A.
Golden State had a tougher path to the second round, needing a Game 7 road win over the Houston Rockets. The Warriors' playoff experience showed in the deciding game versus the young Rockets. Grizzled postseason veterans Steph Curry and Draymond Green combined for 38 points, 12 assists and 16 rebounds, while Golden State's defense held Houston to just 89 points.Â
The Warriors have won the last three meetings between the two teams, but Minnesota had won the prior five games.Â
Best NHL bets today
Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights (-135, 6.5): 9:30 p.m. ET
New year, same result for Edmonton. The Oilers ousted the Los Angeles Kings from the playoffs for the fourth straight season. Edmonton was on the verge of being down 3-1 to the Kings before a furious late rally in Game 4 evened the series. It was all Oilers after that, with Edmonton winning the next two games by a combined score of 9-5.Â
Vegas was also down 2-1 in its series versus Minnesota. However, the Golden Knights rallied to win the next three games, all by one goal, with two of them going into overtime. Vegas is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games, and the Golden Knights start the series on home ice, where they are 31-10-3 this season.Â
Best MLB bets today
Texas Rangers (-120, 8.5) at Boston Red Sox: 6:45 p.m. ET
The Rangers and Red Sox meet for a three-game series between two of the better teams in the American League. Nathan Eovaldi gets the ball for Texas. The right-hander has been strong early in the season with a 2.11 ERA and 0.77 WHIP. Eovaldi has yet to allow more than three runs in a start this year and has at least seven strikeouts in five of seven outings.Â
The Red Sox counter with Lucas Giolito. Giolito will be making just his second start of the season after allowing five hits and three runs over 6.0 innings against Toronto on April 30.Â
Texas has won three straight over Boston, with the last four meetings going under the total.Â
