The Edmonton Oilers rebounded from a 3-1 deficit to take down the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl look for revenge after falling to Florida in seven games last year. Game 2 from Edmonton is Friday at 8 p.m. ET on TNT. Additionally, we've got a full 15-game MLB slate on the docket, which includes an intriguing interleague clash between division leaders as the Chicago Cubs visit the Detroit Tigers at 7:10 p.m. ET on AppleTV+.

Best NHL bets today
Florida Panthers (+1.5, -105) at Edmonton Oilers: 8 p.m. ET
The Oilers struck first in Game 1 with an early Draisaitl goal, but the Panthers scored three in a row before Edmonton got its next goal. The game ended how it started, however, with Draisaitl scoring once again, this time the game-winner in overtime to give the Oilers a 4-3 victory at home and an early 1-0 series lead. The Oilers notably fell behind 3-0 in last year's Final to Florida before winning Games 4-6. The Panthers rebounded and won Game 7 2-1.Â
Florida's Sam Bennett scored two more goals, giving him 12 on the postseason, which is tops in the league. Draisaitl's two goals give him nine, which is tied for second. McDavid added two assists, including on Draisaitl's game-winner, and he leads the playoffs with 28 points. Draisaitl is right behind with 27, and Bennett leads Florida with 18.Â
Edmonton went 25-13-3 at home this regular season and are 7-1 at home this postseason. Florida went just 20-19-2 on the road in the regular season, but the Panthers have done better in the postseason, going 8-3 away from home thus far.Â
Best MLB bets today
Texas Rangers at Washington Nationals: 6:45 p.m. ET
The American League West has been arguably baseball's weakest division this year, but the Rangers haven't been in the conversation for the division crown thus far and are five games under .500 and 5.5 back of the Houston Astros after getting swept by the Tampa Bay Rays. They now take on the young, rebuilding Washington Nationals on Friday.
The Rangers' problem in recent years, even when they won the World Series in 2023, has been on the pitching side, but that's changed this year as Texas boasts the third-best ERA in baseball. The problem? The Rangers have scored the third-fewest runs in MLB. Wyatt Langford's .754 OPS is far and away the best mark on the team, and key players such as Marcus Semien (.606 OPS and Adolis Garcia (.625) have gotten off to horrendous starts as we're more than two months into the 2025 season.Â
Texas has the edge in the pitching department in this one with Patrick Corbin facing his old team, which counters with Michael Soroka. Corbin, who was key in Washington's 2019 World Series crown, has had a resurgent season after struggling mightily in recent years. He owns a 3-4 record and 3.71 ERA as a back-end starter for Texas' rotation. Soroka has a 2-3 record and 5.81 ERA.Â
