2025 Formula 1 schedule, F1 picks, odds: Hungarian Grand Prix projected leaderboard, start time, race prediction from top model
SportsLine's model simulated the Hungarian GP 2025 and released its F1 predictions for Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri and the rest of the grid
The 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix will be held on Sunday just outside of Budapest at the Hungaroring, a 14-turn 2.722-mile circuit that opened in 1986 and has hosted this event every year since. The season of McLaren continued last week in Belgium, with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris securing another 1-2 finish. They're running away with a 268-point lead in the constructors' standings and it looks like it will be a Piastri vs. Norris battle for the world championship.
Piastri is the +100 favorite in the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix odds while Norris is listed at +175. Surprise pole winner Charles Leclerc is +380. The lights will go out in Budapest at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday morning and this is the 14th stop of 24 on the Formula 1 schedule. SportsLine's proven computer projection model simulated the 2025 Hungarian GP 10,000 times, creating a surprising leaderboard.
Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary Formula 1 prediction model takes into account a slew of factors, including track history and recent results.
The model has been scorching hot when it comes to picking Formula 1 race events dating back to 2021. It nailed both of Charles Leclerc's wins in 2022, and at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix, the model was strongly backing Verstappen as its top pick. The result: Verstappen dominated the field and ran away with a surprising victory.Â
It followed that up by calling Verstappen's win at the Rolex Emilia Romagna GP in April and nailed Verstappen to win in Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, the United States, Mexico and Abu Dhabi. It also called all 19 of Verstappen's wins during the 2023 season and nailed each of his first seven wins in 2024.Â
It also predicted Lando Norris's 2024 wins in the Netherlands (+200), Singapore (+190) and Abu Dhabi (+250) as well as his wins at the Australian GP (+185), Monaco GP (-150) and British GP (+160) in 2025. It also predicted Piastri's wins in Bahrain (-275) and Saudi Arabia (-105). Anyone who followed the model's lead on those plays has seen HUGE returns!
Now, the model has dialed in on the 2025 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix and just released its coveted picks and leaderboard projections.
We can tell you the model is backing Isack Hadjar of Racing Bulls to finish top 10 (+130) after correctly predicting plus-money F1 props for Pierre Gasly to collect points in the last two races. Hadjar is a 20-year-old Frenchman and F1 rookie that has already collected five points finishes so far this season. That included a sixth-place finish in Monaco and then a seventh-place finish the following week in Spain.
Hadjar is coming off a last-place finish in Belgium, but he did finish eighth to collect a point in the Belgian Sprint Race, so the weekend wasn't an entire loss. He's currently 11th in the F1 standings and is within striking distance of Esteban Ocon (five points) to move into the top half during his first Formula 1 season. He had a podium finish in Hungary while racing Formula 2 last season and the model has him finishing comfortably inside the top 10 on Sunday.
The model has also made its win prediction and is also targeting one significant underdog to make a charge up the leaderboard! Anyone who backs this driver could hit it BIG. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who he is before locking in any Formula 1 Hungarian GP picks of your own.
