Stephan Jaeger survived a birdie-less back nine and a Scottie Scheffler missed 5-foot putt on the 18th hole to win the Texas Children's Houston Open last week. It was the first career PGA Tour victory for the rising star. who now has three top-three finishes in his last seven events. With the season's first major only one week away, many players will look to tune up their games at this week's Valero Texas Open. Played on the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio, the par-72 plays at more than 7,400 yards and while not overly challenging, is more suited for longer players. The 156 golfers in the field will play for a purse of $9.2 million and an invitation to The Masters if not already exempt.

Rory McIlroy is the favorite at +900 odds, followed by Ludvig Aberg (+1400), Hideki Matsuyama and Jordan Spieth (+1800), with Collin Morikawa at +2000.

With a competitive field for 2024's second event in Texas, who can you trust for your Valero Texas Open Fantasy golf picks? Before you set your 2024 Valero Texas Open golf lineups or make any PGA Tour bets, you NEED to see the Fantasy golf rankings from Fantasy expert Eric Cohen.

Cohen is an avid golf bettor who correctly predicted the pre-tournament outright winner of the 2024 Players Championship (Scottie Scheffler +550)m 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic (Rickie Fowler +1400), 2023 PGA Championship (Brooks Koepka +2000), 2023 Honda Classic (Chris Kirk +3500), 2022 Open Championship (Cameron Smith +2200), 2022 U.S. Open (Matt Fitzpatrick +2500), and 2022 Phoenix Open (Scottie Scheffler's first career victory at +2800). He also tipped Max Greyserman as a +17500 long shot last week who ended up finishing tied for 7th place.

Eric is a contributor to SportsLine's YouTube shows including "Early Edge" and is the host of "The Early Wedge" golf show (live on Tuesday, 4/2 at 7:00 p.m. ET). Anyone who has followed Cohen's predictions has made positive gains on their golf picks.

Now, Cohen has studied the field set to play at TPC San Antonio and revealed his Valero Texas Open Fantasy golf rankings.

We can tell you he is backing Billy Horschel, whose closing 64 earned him a T7 in Houston last week. "Horschel has gained strokes in all major categories in three of his last four events, with finishes of T9-T12-T7 in those tournaments. Between 2011 and 2019, Horschel registered three top-four finishes at TPC San Antonio as well as a T11. The key to all of those successes: great putting, with more than 24 strokes gained on the greens combined in those four events,"

On the other hand, Cohen is fading the top choice by the oddsmakers, Rory McIlroy at +900, saying: "The Northern Irishman has finished between 19th and 24th in his last four PGA Tour events, which is substandard for the No. 2 player in the world. McIlroy's seeming issue is that there's been a hole in at least one area of his game each week."

Cohen also is backing several underdogs in his 2024 Valero Texas Open Fantasy golf picks, including a HUGE 200-1 longshot who has been on an uptick of late! If this player can pull off a stunning result, it would bring a HUGE payoff and be a valuable piece for Valero Texas Open Fantasy golf lineups. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who it is before locking in any fantasy golf picks.
