The fourth-seeded Duke Blue Devils seek their first trip to the Sweet 16 under head coach Jon Scheyer when they take on the No. 12 seed James Madison Dukes in a second-round showdown in the South Region of the 2024 NCAA Tournament on Sunday. The Blue Devils defeated Vermont 64-47 in their opener of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, while James Madison (32-3) extended its overall winning streak to 14 games by upsetting fifth-seeded Wisconsin 72-61 on Friday.

Tip-off at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. ET. The Blue Devils are 7.5-point favorites in the latest Duke vs. James Madison odds, while the over/under for total points scored is 148.

Before making any James Madison vs. Duke picks or NCAA Tournament predictions, you need to check out the college basketball predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model. (See up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college basketball odds page.)

The model simulates every Div. I college basketball game 10,000 times. It entered the 2024 NCAA Tournament on a 148-106 roll on all top-rated college basketball picks dating back to last season, returning more than $1,700 for $100 players. It also has a strong 29-19 (+810) record on top-rated spread picks this season. Anyone following it has seen HUGE returns!

The model knows even though leading scorer Kyle Filipowski was subpar offensively, Duke received solid contributions from its other four starters to get past the Catamounts on Friday. Sophomore forward Mark Mitchell and freshman guard Jared McCain scored 15 points apiece, while senior guard Jeremy Roach added 14 and sophomore guard Tyrese Proctor had 13. Filipowski, a sophomore center who is averaging 16.7 points this season, recorded a career-low three in the win but grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out four assists.

But the model also has taken into account that James Madison never trailed against Wisconsin as it recorded its first NCAA Tournament victory since beating Long Island University in the First Four in 2013 and advanced to the Round of 32 for the first time since 1983, when it lost to Michael Jordan and North Carolina. Junior guard Terrence Edwards Jr. scored a team-high 14 points on Friday for the Dukes, who own the longest active winning streak in Division I and are tied with Connecticut for most wins in the nation. Senior forwards T.J. Bickerstaff and Julien Wooden each recorded 12 points while senior guard Michael Green III contributed 11 off the bench.
