Teams looking to reach the Sweet Sixteen battle when the 11th-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers meet the third-seeded Xavier Musketeers in an NCAA Tournament Midwest Region second-round game on Sunday. This will be the third matchup between the teams in the tournament since 2009, with each team earning a victory. The Panthers (24-11, 14-6 ACC), who tied for third in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings, are looking to reach the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2009, when Pittsburgh made it all the way to the Elite Eight. The Musketeers (26-9, 15-5 Big East), who finished second behind Marquette in the Big East, last reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2017, also going all the way to the Elite Eight.

The game from Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, will tip off at 12:10 p.m. ET. The Musketeers are favored by 5.5 points in the latest Pittsburgh vs. Xavier odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points scored is 151.5. (See up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college basketball odds page.)

Before making any Pittsburgh vs. Xavier picks, or NCAA Tournament selections, you need to check out the college basketball predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every Div. I college basketball game 10,000 times. The model enters the 2023 NCAA Tournament 79-53 on all-top rated college basketball picks this season, returning nearly $1,300 for $100 players. Anybody who has followed the model has seen HUGE returns!

The model knows the Musketeers are powered by senior Souley Boum. He has reached double-figure scoring in 12 of the past 13 games, including a 17-point, five-rebound and two-assist effort in the first-round win over Kennesaw State. He scored 23 points, dished out six assists and grabbed five rebounds in an 82-60 win over Creighton in a Big East Conference Tournament semifinal last week. In 35 starts this season, Boum is averaging 16.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 35 minutes of action.

But the model also knows Panthers junior forward Blake Hinson is one of four Pittsburgh players averaging in double-figure scoring. Hinson was held to five points and four rebounds in the first-round win over Iowa State, but has reached double-figure scoring in six of the past eight games. He scored 24 points in a 78-76 loss at Miami on March 4, and scored 22 in a 99-82 victory over Syracuse on Feb. 25. He has reached double-figure scoring 29 times and has recorded five double-doubles. The Ole Miss transfer has played in 35 games, including 34 starts, and is averaging 15.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

Now, the model has set its sights on Pittsburgh vs. Xavier. We can tell you the model is leaning Under on the point total, and it also says one side of the spread hits in over 50% of simulations! You ABSOLUTELY need to see the model before locking in any college basketball picks.
