2023 Georgia Bulldogs win total betting strategy: Kirby Smart aiming for third straight championship

Three-peats are pretty rare. We're talking about only the most mistoric of teams, from various iterations of the great New York Yankees, Bill Russell's Boston Celtics, Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers, the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders, not to mention John Wooden's UCLA Bruins of yore. College football, however, has proven mostly foreign territory for three-peats. One has to go back nearly 90 years, to pre-World War II times and Bernie Bierman's Minnesota Golden Gophers to find the last three-peater on the college gridiron in the 30s. Bear Bryant's Alabama couldn't do it; neither could Nick Saban's Bama when it last had a shot at such in 2013. Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer couldn't do it either. Legends like Ara Parseghian, John McKay, and Darrell Royal never got more than one title in a row.

So here we are in the fall with Kirby Smart and Georgia Bulldogs, on the verge of college football immortality. The modern-day SEC has been dominating college football for over a decade, and Smart didn't even win the conference title two years ago before snagging the national crown. Enduring the rugged SEC trail, however, does provide a certain backbone for a team in a playoff situation. Why, the eventual title game could even become easy, as it was for Georgia last January when it buried TCU 65-7 in a finale that, believe it or not, wasn't even that close. The bad news for backers of other SEC teams is that various conference insiders think that this year's Georgia has an even more direct route to the title game...
