2022 World Series odds: Yankees have supplanted Dodgers as championship favorites

There's a new betting favorite to win the World Series.

The Los Angeles Dodgers had been the betting favorites to win the 2022 World Series since the end of the 2021 Fall Classic. However, Los Angeles (+450) has now been supplanted by the New York Yankees (+430) as championship favorites. The Yankees have easily the best record in the majors at 53-20 and also the league's best run differential at +144. The win-loss record matches the third-best 73-game start in the majors since 1930, trailing only the 2001 Seattle Mariners and the 1998 Yankees.

The Yankees also have an MLB-best 10 walk-off wins, including five in June alone. Each of their last three wins at home have been walk-off wins. It marks the fourth time in the last 34 years (since 1989) that the Yankees have recorded at least 10 walk-off wins in a season (11 in 2021, 15 in 2009 and 10 in 2005).

New York has lost just two series this season. The Yanks have won or split 19 of their last 20 series (17-1-2) and have won or split each of their last 10 (8-0-2). They are 15-5 in games after a loss, including 5-1 in their last six such games.

Aaron Judge (MLB-best 28 homers) had quite the weekend against Houston with the game-winning hit Thursday and game-winning homer Sunday.  He's now the -115 AL MVP favorite. Judge is the fourth Yankee to hit at least 28 homers in the team's first 73 games of a season, joining Babe Ruth (32 in 1930; 31 in 1928; 30 in 1921), Mickey Mantle (29 in 1956) and Alex Rodriguez (28 in 2007).

New York is 24-1 when Judge and Giancarlo Stanton homer in the same game, including 8-0 this season. Caesars has a prop on whether Judge wins the MVP award and the Yankees win the World Series at +525 for yes and -800 for no.

The Yankees open a home series tonight against Oakland. New York is 16-2 in its past 18 at home. Houston (+650) and the Mets (+700) are the only other teams below +1200 to win the World Series.
