2020 NFL Draft: With 11th pick, New York Jets reportedly focused on receivers

The New York Jets reportedly are considering wideout help for QB Sam Darnold with the No. 11 overall pick in this week's NFL Draft.

It's generally a consensus that the New York Jets' biggest draft need is at wide receiver. Yes, the Jets added both Josh Doctson and Breshad Perriman in free agency, but both former first-round picks come with major question marks. New York also lost Robby Anderson in free agency to the Carolina Panthers.

The Jets hold the No. 11 overall pick in Round 1 of the NFL Draft on Thursday, and we project they select Oklahoma's CeeDee Lamb there. On the CBS Sports Big Board, Lamb is ranked as the No. 8 player overall and No. 1 receiver, although we projected Alabama's Jerry Jeudy to go ahead of him at No. 9 to Jacksonville.

That Jeudy is selected before Lamb is priced -150 on a yes-only prop at William Hill sportsbook. Lamb is also given an Over-Under draft position of 12.5, with the Under (i.e. picked 12th or earlier) a -130 favorite.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Lamb ran a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and had a vertical of 34.5 inches. Last year for the Sooners, he caught 62 passes for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. His 21.4 yards per catch average was third in the country. His 26 catches of at least 20 yards were second nationally.

Lamb was a consensus All-American, first-team All-Big 12 and a Biletnikoff Award finalist (won by LSU's Ja'Marr Chase, who isn't draft eligible). Lamb finished his career second in Oklahoma history in receiving touchdowns with 32 and third in yardage with 3,292. He's also solid punt returner.

Oklahoma has never had receivers go in the first round of back-to-back drafts. Marquise Brown was the No. 25 overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. Prior to Brown, no Sooners wideout had gone in the first round since Mark Clayton at No. 22 overall to the Ravens in 2005.
