This feels like a good spot for a struggling Nevada club that has struggled to close out close games but found a much-needed boost last week with a switch to freshman QB Carter Jones, who nearly led a comeback win against Fresno State as a two-TD underdog. Look for another spirited Nevada effort that merits a cover.

There's an alert from the Mountain West re: Nevada. The Pack might now have a QB in frosh Carter Jones, who gave the Wolf Pack its first semblance of a passing game last week at Fresno, with his 2 TD passes off the bench matching the season-to-date totals of the two QBs who had been taking snaps a head of him, Chubba Purdy and AJ Bianco. With a serviceable ground game led by Caleb Ramseur, and a defense playing inspired for Jeff Choate, the arrow points up in Reno. We're not sold on SDSU's 4-1 record, as the Aztecs have hit a couple of foes at the right time. The heavy loss at Washington State last month is also hard to forget. Play Nevada

San Diego State has been one of the bright spots this season, especially on defense. They have arguably one of the best defenses in the country. Offensively speaking, the Wolf Pack haven't been able to get out of their own way at times this year and that isn't what you want to hear when facing a defense like San Diego State.
