The Sooners have one of the best defenses in the country and will make life difficult on an Owls offense that hasn't played anyone with a heartbeat. Oklahoma also has a big game next week against Auburn, and I expect the Sooners to be more concerned with running out the clock than running up the score. Taking the points with Temple is a reasonable play, but I prefer Under 51.5 much better.

Oklahoma used to routinely handle spreads like this on the road in Barry Switzer's era. Yet can Brent Venables? Lots of Sooners buzz after the win over Michigan, but note it took a while in the opener vs. FCS Illinois State for OU to pull clear. The Heisman hype around QB John Mateer might be premature, and we wonder about gamebreakers, especially with Cal transfer RB Jaydn Ott seeing limited action. Meanwhile, Temple gets its first test after a 2-0 start, but new HC KC Keeler won big at Sam Houston and already has the Owls looking more organized.
