The Over has connected in 10 straight meetings in this rivalry. This might seem like an empty trend at face value, but it shows that at the highest level, two of the top defensive clubs in the country usually find a way to produce offense against each other and clip what is a meager total by college football standards.
We might never again see a spread this humongous in the series. Nor might we ever see one team this much superior to the other. Ohio State shrugged off the loss of its third O-lineman last week and pounded Indiana, which speaks to the Buckeyes' depth. The Wolverines not only lack depth but the usual batch elite starters. Two of them appear out here: future NFL CB Will Johnson for sure, primary WR Colston Loveland most likely. If coach Ryan Day can pour it on, suffice to say he will. The Buckeyes are not shy about scoring late in wrapped-up games, and Michigan has bedeviled him so much that a chance to run up the score will not be ignored.
After three straight losses to Michigan, Ohio State gets a chance at some sort of redemption against a mediocre Michigan team. Michigan is 6-5 and 4-7 against the spread but they are 0-3 on the road and Ohio Stadium is going to be rocking with anticipation of beating their hated rival. We get a bonus this week with Ohio State because Michigan poured out their best game of the year last week winning 50-6 against Northwestern and it makes it look like they're ready for the Buckeyes. What Michigan has to worry about is not the potent Ohio State offense that averages 37.8 a game, it's the No. 1 ranked Buckeye defense that allows only 241 yards per game. Buckeyes cover.
This is the best rivalry in sports and you can't argue with it. Ryan Day needs to run up the score here to appease his Buckeyes fanbase and I think they will do just that. I think Ohio State is the best team in the country, will dominate this week, beat Oregon in the Big Ten Championship Game, and win their three CFP games to capture a National Championship. OSU has scored 31 points or more in 9 of 11 games this season and I'd be surprised if they didn't do it again in Columbus on Saturday afternoon. Ohio State 35, Michigan 10.
