What game has the best chance to be a blowout? This one popped into my head immediately because North Carolina is getting amazing QB play from Drake Maye. The Heels average 502.0 yards per game and score 41.8 points a game. They allow 31.4 points a game too, but Virginia has a molasses offense scoring just 16.9 points a game. Virginia won't be able to keep up. Carolina has won four straight (3-1 against-the-spread), and Virginia is next to go down. UNC covers.
What we have here is a team with a great offense and a lousy defense playing against a team with a decent defense and a lousy offense. I believe the Tar Heels are going to score in the 40s. That means holding Virginia below around 33. The Cavaliers have not scored more than 20 against an FBS opponent this season. Even if they score 30, I like Carolina to cover.
Nobody is paying attention to North Carolina and I can't quite figure out why. Quarterback Drake Maye deserves Heisman Trophy consideration and the defense, while flawed, is no longer the punchline to a bad joke like it was earlier this season. The Tar Heels are 4-2-1 against the spread this year, and will have enough success against a Virginia pass defense that won't be able to hold Maye down for a full four quarters.
