The nation saw Florida State light up the Notre Dame defense for 38 points last week. That, in part, prompted coach Brian Kelly to make his awkward "execution" joke. Because of that subpar defensive performance, I think the Irish have worked extra hard to clean up those issues this week. New defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman is too good for this defense to play that poorly. My model says Notre Dame covers almost 60 percent of the time, so you're getting strong value at this number.

Notre Dame got a scare last weekend against Florida State. Now that the 'threat' of losing a game they should've dominated is out of their system, look for the Fighting Irish to take that frustration out on Toledo. What Notre Dame showed against the Seminoles was the ability to have success in the passing game when it isn't having the best of days running the ball. That certainly is a good thing for the Fighting Irish.
