POTATO BOWL -- Sometimes the obvious play is obvious for a reason. Nevada might be 7-5, but it has played like a 4-8 team. It has a point differential of -129 on the season largely because it cannot stop the run. Ohio runs the ball very effectively, which is already a matchup problem for Nevada. It's an even bigger problem in this game, however, because Nevada will be without a couple of key players on defense due to suspensions from a fight against UNLV in the regular season finale. Oh, and Nevada's defensive coordinator is gone as well.
FAMOUS IDAHO POTATO BOWL -- Ohio should score at will. Bobcats QB Nathan Rourke made All-MAC by chewing up defenses better than what he will confront here. For Nevada, three starters on defense are suspended the full game and another for a half. The defensive coordinator and two assistants won’t be around for the misery; they were fired. Ohio has covered in four consecutive bowls under coach Frank Solich, 75, who recently had his contract extended. With two closing wins by a combined score of 118-27, Ohio owns all of the momentum.
FAMOUS IDAHO POTATO BOWL -- Nevada will be short-handed defensively due to suspensions, and now has to face one of the better offenses in the nation. Ohio does a great job controlling the line of scrimmage. I don't see Nevada keeping it close.
POTATO BOWL -- This line has already moved a clip but might as well lock this in before it escalates even higher. the Wolf Pack announced the suspensions of four defensive players stemming from a brawl following a season-ending loss to rival UNLV. Morale also could be low after the team fired nearly all of its defensive staff. Underachieving Ohio only became bowl-eligible by beating up on the MAC's also-rans the last two weeks of the season. But the Bobcats saw their dormant offense get going, and they should produce against Nevada's depleted defense.
