Illinois is playing great ball right now and beat Iowa by 20 February 25th that started a three-game losing streak but something happened in the last two games of the season on the road. They went into Nebraska and won then they won at Ohio State and that's kind of what I'm going with today. Too many points for a team that finally figured out ways to win on the road. After salvaging a spot in the Big Ten Tourney with an unexpected win at Nebraska on Sunday, the Hawkeyes did it again on Wednesday at Indy, badly damaging Ohio State's Big Dance at-large candidacy with a 77-70 win. Fran McCaffery has made some subtle adjustments in recent weeks, slowing the pace to help protect a defense that has leaked all season. But Iowa can still shoot, hitting almost 55% on Wednesday, and G Payton Sandfort has resurfaced, hitting for 19.5 ppg these past two. Illinois is safely tucked into the Big Dance field and hits Indy hot, winning three straight, and recently rolled the Hawkeyes 81-61, but that sort of momentum often doesn't translate into a conference tourney run.
