Pennsylvania Gaming Revenue Jumps 14.6% in February, Hits $547.1 million on Strength of iCasinos

Pennsylvania online gambling generated $547.1 million in February revenue, representing a 14.6% increase from last February, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). This successful month was driven by strong performances in iGaming and sports betting, while land-based casinos posted more moderate gains. The state collected $236 million in tax revenue across all betting and gaming verticals for the month.

PA iCasinos enjoyed their best month ever, reaching a record $239.9 million in revenue—up 15.5% compared to the same month last year.

Overall, PA online casinos alone generated $111 million in tax contributions, illustrating their growing role in public funding.

Online slots dominated the iGaming category, hauling in $191 million amid a 24.1% year-over-year increase. Table games also made a notable contribution to Pennsylvania's digital gaming revenue with $42.2 million.

Poker was among the few online verticals that didn't fare so well. It earned just $2.2 million in revenue, a 9.7% decrease year-over-year.

Sports betting delivered one of the more interesting storylines of the PCGB revenue report. Total betting handle fell by 21.7% year-over-year to $592.4 million, but revenue shot up to $37.8 million—a 405.6% increase.

The boost reflects higher operator hold and fewer promotional expenses. PA online sportsbooks are offering fewer free bets and other incentives this year versus last. The result is operators retaining a larger share of handle while also delivering more to state coffers, with almost $12.9 million going to tax collections in February.

Retail casinos earned $191.1 million from slot machines, a modest 3.1% increase from the same month last year. While this figure doesn't jump out, it's somewhat impressive considering that the number of available machines has declined slightly.

Revenue for table games like real money online craps and blackjack also experienced a slight bump, generating $72.6 million—a small 2.1% increase.

These incremental gains suggest that while land-based casinos remain a reliable revenue source, they're no longer a primary growth driver. Instead, they're increasingly complemented, or even rivaled in some cases, by digital channels.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the way among Pennsylvania casinos, earning $106.8 million, up 19.33% from the previous year. It was particularly strong in the iCasino area, pulling in $71.3 million through real money online slots alone.

Valley Forge Casino Resort was a clear second for the month, collecting $93.7 million while experiencing a 15.02% year-over-year rise. It also got a big hand from digital gaming, with its online slots and table games generating $51 million and $13.1 million, respectively.

Parx Casino in Bensalem is one of the few PA casinos still relying on the old-school approach over digital gaming. It was the fourth-highest grossing casino of the month with $50.8 million, primarily relying on slot machines ($29.4m) and table games ($14.9m). It's also the home of the BetParx Casino promo code.
