DraftKings Launches Spanish-Language Online Casino Platform

DraftKings updates casino app with Spanish-language capabilities
According to a press release from DraftKings, the new function debuted in its Android and iOS apps for playing casino games online on Nov. 25. At that time, DraftKings said the Spanish-language interface would "roll out initially to select existing customers in the U.S. and Ontario where DraftKings operates and will expand to everyone in the coming weeks."
DraftKings noted that "people whose mobile device language is set to Spanish will automatically see the DraftKings app primarily in Spanish after updating." While that suggests limited integration of Spanish verbiage, the release adds that "this functionality will eventually flow throughout the entire customer journey."
DraftKings' statement does not mention any modifications to its website for people who play using a desktop or laptop computer. Many web browsers offer machine translation of websites, but these translations vary in their degree of accuracy and utility.
At this time, DraftKings has also not shared whether it will extend this functionality to Golden Nugget Casino. DraftKings has been operating Golden Nugget's iGaming platform since 2022.
A comprehensive Spanish-language iGaming experience is still a rarity for people in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Given the portion of Michigan online casino players whose languages include Spanish, it's a shrewd move to aid DraftKings in retaining its market share in Michigan and beyond.
Demand for Spanish-language services in iGaming states
The US Census Bureau estimated in June 2025 that 22% of people aged five or older speak a language other than English inside their homes. The Bureau stated that Spanish was a prevalent language in this analysis, representing 61% of the targeted population.
It's important to note that these statistics do not measure the English-language proficiency of the target population. State-specific language demographics for people 18 years of age or older according to the US Census Bureau include:
- Michigan: 3.1% of the population
- New Jersey: 17% of the population
- Pennsylvania: 5.8% of the population
- West Virginia: 1.2% of the population
In all of these states except for Michigan, Spanish was the most prevalent language outside of English in terms of home languages for people 18 or older. The Spanish-language capability of the DraftKings Casino app could allow players who fit into this demographic to feel more comfortable.
DraftKings is already among the market leaders in all four of these states. For example, DraftKings Casino represented the second-highest taxable iGaming revenue total in New Jersey for October 2025.
With the integration of Spanish-language functions, a possible language barrier of that kind is one fewer obstacle for DraftKings maintaining that share.Ā
