Everything remains a struggle for the Flames, a 5-2 loser last night in Chicago. In the second night of a back-to-back, Devin Cooley (stats not bad but 0-2-1 in games started) gets only his fourth start of the season after Dustin Wolf was ineffective again last night. We're a little skittish to jump in with the Sabres, but they are stirring with back-to-back wins, the offense finally in gear when scoring five vs. both the Red Wings and Oilers. Tage Thompson has also scored goals in three straight games for Buffalo. Colton Ellis, who picked up the win two nights ago vs, the Oilers when stopping 32 or 33 shots, is slated back in goal for Lindy Ruff tonight. Play Sabres on Puck Line
Would you like to know the unluckiest goaltender in the NHL? That would be Calgary's Devin Cooley. He would be among league leaders with a 1.75 GAA and .935 SV if enough games to qualify but is 0-2-1 because the Flames cannot score. And they are in the second of a back-to-back Wednesday. Buffalo is starting to move a bit, and we cashed easily on the Sabres on Monday when they smacked Edmonton. Again, I generally prefer -1 at north of -160 but with Cooley being so strong yet with little goal support, we might be looking at 3-2/2-1 so will play it straight. If the Flames weren't on the second of a B2B, I'd do the -1.
