Surprise! The Islanders are back in playoff contention with eight wins in nine games! The defense has keyed the surge, allowing just 16 goals across that span (six of those in the lone loss vs. Florida). It's worth noting that GK Ilya Sorokin wasn't in goal vs. the Panthers (Jakub Skarek took the loss). Sorokin has been a key cog in the recent uptick, winning his last six starts, while allowing just seven goals over that span. He's also stopped 170 of the last 177 shots he's faced (.960 saves!). Meanwhile, Jets counterpart Connor Hellebuyck continues to steam toward a possible Vezina Trophy, winning nine of his last ten starts. He's 33-7-2 this season with a 2.04 GAA and .925 saves. I tend to think this pushes. And while I'm a huge fan of Isles goalie Ilya Sorokin, who is more than capable of stealing this, NYI is shredded by injuries. I'm honestly not sure how the team is playing so well of late. Actually I am: It's mostly Sorokin. That's why I'm not taking Jets ML at -190. Winnipeg counterpart Connor Hellebuyck has been just as good (total is 5.5, and I will never play Under that in the RS).
