Matthew Boyd has had an excellent season atop the Chicago Cubs rotation. While Boyd has undoubtedly been great, I do feel he’s pitched slightly above his head/expectations and I consider him a regression candidate. He will have his work cut out for himself against what has been the best lineup in baseball, both recently and all season. The Cubs would also be wise to save Boyd as he has never pitched this many innings.

Not many runs in this somewhat surprisingly low-scoring series in Toronto, but that's been the case with the Cubs the past week as they enter the rubber match of this midweek set on Thursday having gone under in seven of their last eight games. Matthew Boyd has continued to excel on the mound for Chicago, posting a 1.79 ERA across his last 13 starts dating to late May, plus an 0.86 WHIP. Meanwhile, Max Scherzer finally looks to be into the groove on the Toronto side, improving with every start, and a 2.25 ERA in two August starts. Play Cubs-Blue Jays Under
