Thursday is a lighter day when it comes to the sports schedule, as MLB enjoys the final day of its All-Star Break while the WNBA begins its All-Star Break ahead of Saturday's exhibition matchup. There's still plenty to keep an eye on when it comes to sports betting, though, as the NBA Summer League features eight games, including Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers facing the Boston Celtics at 9 p.m. ET. Additionally, the 153rd Open Championship began this morning as the fourth and final major of the golf season gets underway.

If you're interested in betting on any of Thursday's sports action, or if you're keeping an eye out for impending MLB and WNBA games, check out the DraftKings promo code, which gives new users $150 in bonus bets after they place a first bet of at least $5.

How to claim the DraftKings promo code

This DraftKings offer is only available to new users of legal age in a state where the sportsbook operates. There's no code required to claim this promotion. If you want to earn $150 in bonus bets at DraftKings, follow these steps.

  2. Create a DraftKings Sportsbook account by entering all required information.

Best bets for Thursday, July 17

The two biggest storylines surrounding this year's NBA Summer League have been Cooper Flagg and Bronny James. Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks out of Duke, played just two Summer League games for his new team, but he finished with a bang as he dropped 31 points against the San Antonio Spurs. That came after he made only five of 21 shots against James and the Lakers. Speaking of James, after a rough start to the Summer League against Flagg and the Mavs, he's scored 14 and 17 points, respectively, over his last two games, including making three of five 3-point attempts in his most recent contest against the Los Angeles Clippers. James and the Lakers take on the Celtics at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN. Boston is a 2.5-point favorite at DraftKings and the total sits at 175.5.

The Open began bright and early from Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland as the best golf has to offer compete for a major championship. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy opened as the two resounding favorites, while Xander Schauffele, the defending Open champ, had the fourth-shortest odds in the field. Shane Lowry, who won The Open when it was at Royal Portrush in 2019, opened with the 11th-shortest odds in the field. Three players are tied at the top of the leaderboard early in the first round with Jacob Skov Olesen, Haotong Li and Matt Fitzpatrick all sitting at -4.

Looking ahead to baseball, MLB resumes Friday with 30 games. The action begins early when the red-hot Boston Red Sox visit the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs at 2:20 p.m. ET. Other notable games on the docket include the San Francisco Giants visiting the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:07 p.m. ET and the New York Yankees visiting the Atlanta Braves at 7:15 p.m. ET. Both those games will air on MLB Network. The Seattle Mariners host the Houston Astros at 10:10 p.m. ET in a matchup between the top teams in the AL Central, and the Milwaukee Brewers head to Los Angeles to face the champs, the Dodgers, at 10:10 p.m. ET as well.
