We're always apt to see empty-netters at the end of a game turning unders into overs in a snap (much like Caps-Canadiens on Sunday). Though two of the first three in this series have landed on the over side, there is still a defensive undertone to proceedings as we saw in the 2-0 Florida win in Game 2, with the lead expanded in the final moments on another empty-netter. The storyline in this series for us has been a recovery to normal form by Lighting GK Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has had issues in the playoffs the past two years but looking as good as ever across the past two games when stopping 54 of 56 Florida shots. What sticks out as much as the big hits by Brayden Hagel and Matthew Tkachuk, and the banter between Paul Maurice and Jon Cooper, is Andrei Vasilevskiy finding himself in goal since Game One for Tampa Bay. Vasilevskiy, not sharp in the past two playoffs, has steered aside 54 of 56 shots (.964 saves) the past two games. As Cooper noted after Game 2, the Lightning was its own worst enemy at home, missing several golden chances that they usually convert, and we got a reminder on Saturday that Tampa Bay is still very much in this series.
