Not sure what to make of that six-goal Sharks eruption on Friday at the Rock against the Devils except to make the obvious "outlier" note. Outlier, we'll say...San Jose had scored all of six goals in ten previous road games before getting another six in just one road game on Friday. Go figure! Whatever, the "under" has still been very good value in San Jose games away from the Shark Tank, posting an 8-2-1 mark into Sunday at MSG vs. the Rangers and Jonathan Quick with his 1.99 GAA and .931 saves, with three shutouts already this season. Stop the presses! After ten straight losses on the road to begin the season, the Sharks came out of nowhere to beat the Devils 6-3 on Friday night at the Rock. Six goals in one night after six goals in ten road games previous...go figure! Outshooting New Jersey 47-18...these are the same Sharks? What gives? Congrats on the win, but the body of evidence is still very much against San Jose, and hard to do much better than go with Peter Laviolette's Rangers, who have won 9 of 11 after Saturday's success at Nashville, and running away with the Metropolitan Division. Don't look now but San Jose has won three of their last four gaames. The Sharks are 9-4 under their last 13 games. Mackenzie Blackwood has allowed just nine goals in his last four starts. NYR backup Jonathan Quick is 6-1 in his seven starts with a 1.99 goals against average and 93% save percentage. The Rangers are 13-6 under their last 19 games.
