Russell Wilson projections 2022: Fantasy stats, betting odds, Denver Broncos player profile, season outlook, simulations

The future Hall of Fame QB moves from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos after a surprising deal this offseason

After 10 years wearing Seattle blue (and occasionally neon green), seeing Russell Wilson is a primarily orange uniform is going to be strange for most NFL fans. The undersized quarterback missed the first three games of his professional career in 2021 with a finger injury and his Seahawks floundered to their first losing season and second non-playoff appearance since Wilson debuted in 2012. It had become apparent that Wilson was ready for a change of scenery and was dealt in March to Denver for massive haul including three players (including QB Drew Lock) and five draft picks.

In his last four full seasons in Seattle, Wilson averaged 35 TD passes, two rushing touchdowns, and more than 3,900 passing yards annually. While he leaves behind big time weapons in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Locket, the cupboard certainly isn't bare in Denver. Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Tim Patrick are three proven NFL receivers. TE Albert Okwuegbunam finally has the chance to embrace a starting role with Noah Fant traded in exchange for Wilson. RB Javonte Williams is a fantasy football darling in advance of his second season and Melvin Gordon is a veteran with later-round upside.

Though he plays in arguably the most competitive division in the NFL, the AFC West, Wilson should be expected to at least duplicate his recent season averages, if not exceed them, in first year coach Nathaniel Hackett's (former Green Bay OC) dynamic offensive scheme.
