NFL Week 6 Saints vs. Jaguars: Public all over New Orleans despite Jalen Ramsey's likely return

The Jacksonville Jaguars likely will welcome back Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey on Sunday vs. New Orleans.

We have a backup quarterback facing a rookie sixth-rounder on Sunday from Jacksonville when Teddy Bridgewater and the Saints take on first-year sensation Gardner Minshew III and the Jaguars. But the bigger story is the expected return of one of the NFL's best cornerbacks. Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET from TIAA Bank Field on CBS and the Jaguars are 1.5-point favorites on the NFL odds.

Is the Jalen Ramsey silliness over in Jacksonville? For one week, it apparently is. On Thursday, Jaguars owner Shahid Khan said that he believed arguably the league's best cover cornerback would play against New Orleans. Ramsey said he and Ramsey, who has demanded a trade, had a "heart-to-heart" and that the two parties will find a result that "makes sense for all." Ramsey hasn't rescinded that request.

Ramsey hasn't played since the Sept. 19 win over the Tennessee Titans. Since then, he left the team because his wife gave birth, was sick and/or had a back injury. Clearly, he was trying to force the Jags' hand, but Khan has been on record saying he doesn't want to trade Ramsey – the trade deadline is Oct. 29. He returned to practice on Wednesday.

Getting Ramsey back would be huge because he surely would be tasked with guarding Saints receiver Michael Thomas, who leads the NFL with 45 catches and 543 yards. The Saints are unbeaten under Bridgewater.

This game opened as a pick'em and has interestingly shifted toward Jacksonville even though the Saints are taking 93 percent of the spread handle on the DraftKings NFL picks and 86 percent of the spread bets on the game. Some books have moved the spread down to -1. Might Ramsey mean some late money comes in on Jacksonville?

New Orleans has been a phenomenal bet in October in recent years, covering 13 of its past 14 games in the month. The Saints are also 8-3 ATS in their past 11 on the road. The Jags, meanwhile, have failed to win or cover five straight October home games.
