Next Bucs quarterback odds: Teddy Bridgewater, Jimmy Garoppolo, Cam Newton lead favorites of Tom Brady possible replacements

Tom Brady has retired from the Tampa Bay Bucs. Who might be next as the team's QB?

The greatest player in pro football history -- statistically and from a championship perspective that can't be argued -- has retired from the NFL as Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady made it official this morning. The Bucs could look a lot different next season with Rob Gronkowski probably retiring, too, and some key free agents. Does the team rebuild or try and make one last run with this veteran roster? SportsLine offers early odds on TB12's replacement for 2022 in Tampa.

CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin wrote a list of possible candidates and listed Aaron Rodgers at No. 1. Sorry, that's not happening for both cap reasons and if Rodgers is traded, the Packers will send him to the AFC so he doesn't terrorize them. Plus, the Bucs don't have the draft capital to get Rodgers.

Tampa Bay selected former Florida quarterback Kyle Trask in the second round of the 2021 draft, but if anyone watched him in the 2020 SEC title game loss to Alabama or this preseason, well, he isn't ready. This Bucs team is built to win now (maybe). Trask will not be the Week 1 2022 starter.

San Francisco will be starting Trey Lance next season, which means Jimmy Garoppolo will be traded and wouldn't cost much with just one year left on his contract and a spotty postseason record.

Cam Newton is a free agent. So is former Bucs and Saints QB Jameis Winston. How weird will the NFC South be next season? Only Atlanta with Matt Ryan has its likely Week 1 starting QB on the roster currently, and Ryan is nearing the end.

Via SportsLine oddsmakers: Who will be the Bucs' Week 1 starting QB of the 2022 season if not Tom Brady?

    • Teddy Bridgewater +400
    • Jimmy Garoppolo +500
    • Cam Newton +500
    • Marcus Mariota +600
    • Kyle Trask +1000
    • Blaine Gabbert +1500
    • Jameis Winston +1500
    • Kirk Cousins +1800
    • Russell Wilson +2000
