2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of Year odds: Seahawks' Kenneth Walker new favorite with Jets' Breece Hall expected to miss rest of season

There has been a change atop the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds board.

The New York Jets have never had a player win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. It looked like that might change in 2022 with second-round running back Breece Hall positioned as the betting favorite at DraftKings entering Week 7, but the former Iowa State star suffered what is believed to be a torn ACL in Sunday's victory in Denver. That obviously would end his season, and he's no longer a betting option for OROY. The new favorite is Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III at +200.

Hall had been electric in the past few games for the surprising Jets and had a 62-yard touchdown against the Broncos in the first quarter Sunday. He reached a maximum speed of 21.87 mph on the run -- the fastest this season by any ball carrier, according to Next Gen Stats. It was his fourth straight game with a touchdown, all New York wins. His 681 scrimmage yards were the fourth-most by a Jets player over the last 20 seasons.

On Hall's second run after the touchdown, he landed awkwardly after being tackled by a cluster of players in front of the Jets' sideline. Michael Carter likely will take over as the featured back unless the Jets make a trade (Cam Akers, perhaps). Carter opened the year as the starter before being overtaken by Hall.

While Hall was the first running back off the board in the 2022 draft, and Walker was the second at No. 41 overall out of Michigan State. He had been behind Rashaad Penny on Seattle's depth chart, but Penny suffered a season-ending broken fibula in Week 5 at New Orleans. Walker blew up in Sunday's upset win at the Chargers with 168 yards and two touchdowns (his third straight game with a TD) on 23 carries. That included a 74-yard score. Walker's 265 rushing yards are the most in franchise history in a player's first two career starts.

"That kid is unbelievable, man," said Seattle receiver Tyler Lockett. "He's a star in the making. The way he gets better each and every week, you can tell the more and more opportunities he gets, the more comfortable he gets, and the more electrifying he is. This is exactly why we drafted him. We knew what he could do, and everybody on the team is excited he's with us."

Seattle has never had a OROY winner, surprisingly enough. Houston running back Dameon Pierce is right behind Walker on the OROY odds at +300. The fourth-round pick had 92 yards on 20 carries in Sunday's loss at the Raiders. His 510 yards on the ground ranks sixth in the NFL and is tops among rookies.

Saints wideout Chris Olave (+800) is the only other player below +1400.
