2020 NFL Draft odds: Mekhi Becton over-under 6.5 draft position

The first offensive lineman off the board in next month's draft is likely to be Louisville's Mekhi Becton, but will he go in the Top 6? William Hill offers a prop.

Now that NFL free agency has subsided somewhat after a crazy first few days, it's easier to determine the primary draft needs of the various teams. For example, the Colts might have taken a quarterback at No. 13 overall, but they traded the pick to San Francisco for defensive lineman DeForest Buckner and then signed Philip Rivers.

Quarterbacks can't succeed without a good offensive tackle, and the top-rated one in this year's draft depending on the source is either Georgia's Andrew Thomas or Louisville's Mekhi Becton. Today, we will look at Becton as on the William Hill NFL futures odds, Becton is given an Over-Under draft position of 6 .5 with both options at -110 (bet $110 to win $100).

Should Becton go no worse than No. 6 overall in the draft, the Under would win. Seventh or higher, and the Over cashes. Why that number? Oddsmakers clearly must believe that the team currently picking No. 6, the Los Angeles Chargers, need an offensive tackle. And they are right, but the Bolts might need a long-term quarterback more at that spot after losing out on Tom Brady to the Bucs.

Becton was listed at 6-foot-7, 364 pounds at the NFL Combine with monster hands of 10¾ inches. He ran a 5.1 40-yard dash, which is pretty darn impressive at his size. Becton was first-team All-ACC at left tackle in 2019 for the Cardinals but skipped the bowl game to prepare for the draft. He has been compared to former massive NFL tackle Bryant McKinnie.

One of CBS Sports' most recent mock drafts has Becton going No. 8 to Arizona, but other sites have him going as early as No. 4 to the Giants. William Hill originally had Becton with an Over-Under of 4.5.

NFL Pick: Over 6.5, likely to Arizona at No. 8.
