History should be made at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry can officially crown himself the greatest long-distance shooter in NBA history Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks as Curry is two made three-pointers shy of breaking the all-time NBA mark of 2,973 set by Hall of Famer Ray Allen. The Dubs are 5-point favorites vs. the short-handed Knicks in the second of a back-to-back and after having to fly from Indianapolis on Tuesday morning instead of Monday night due to plane troubles. The Warriors rallied to beat the Pacers 102-100 on Monday, but Coach Steve Kerr acknowledged that the weight of the record is hanging over both Curry and the Warriors. Curry, the NBA's second-leading scorer at 27.0 ppg, was just 5-for-15 from deep and had seven turnovers Monday. In his past three games, Curry hasn't shot better than 42.1 percent overall from the field or better than 35.3 percent from three-point range.

Curry surely wanted to break the record at home, but the World's Most Famous Arena is a pretty good second choice: "It's the mecca," Kerr said. "It's the best atmosphere in the league. It's going to be electric. I can't wait -- it will be fun ... every player loves New York. Every player in the league loves playing in the Garden. It's just a special venue -- so hopefully he can get it done [Tuesday]."

If you are wondering, Curry has been held to two made three-pointers or fewer just twice in a game this season. DraftKings offers three props specific to the record: -5000 that Curry breaks it tonight; -500 that he breaks it in the first half; and -110 that he does it in the first quarter.

Curry is averaging 25.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 32.6 minutes per game in 10 career appearances at Madison Square Garden. He averages 4.7 three-point field goals made against the Knicks on their homecourt and is one of nine visiting players to have a 50-point game at MSG.

New York enters off a third straight loss Sunday, 112-97 to the Bucks, and has dropped six of seven overall. The Knicks will be short-handed tonight without RJ Barrett, rookie Quentin Grimes and Obi Toppin all out.

Barrett (15.1 ppg, 5.5 rpg) will miss a second straight in COVID protocols. Grimes (3.6 ppg) started for him vs. Milwaukee and blew u with 27 points after barely playing previously but is now in COVID protocols as is Toppin (8.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg). Alec Burks missed Sunday's game for the birth of his child but is expected to play.
