Heat vs. Raptors Tuesday NBA injury report, odds: Jimmy Butler misses shootaround, still probable to play

Miami All-Star Jimmy Butler is dealing with a minor neck injury.

Tuesday night's NBA action features an important game for the Eastern Conference play-in tournament picture with the Miami Heat visiting the Toronto Raptors. Both teams are trying to avoid the tournament, which isn't likely for the Raptors. Miami has added All-Star Jimmy Butler to the injury report, but he is probable. Regardless, the spread has risen to Raptors -3.5 at Caesars Sportsbook.

Butler wasn't present for Miami's morning shootaround in Toronto due to neck soreness. The only possible concern about Butler sitting tonight is that the Heat also play Wednesday night at the New York Knicks in an even bigger game. So might the Heat rest Butler up for that one? He's averaging 22.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Miami is 8-7 without Butler this season and 32-28 with him.

Butler, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro have each scored at least 20 points 30 times this season, becoming just the second trio to accomplish the feat during a single season in team history, joining only LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in 2010-11.

Point guard and longtime former Raptor Kyle Lowry is questionable but is expected to play and then sit out tomorrow night in New York. Lowry hasn't been cleared for both ends of a back-to-back. Miami is in seventh place in the East -- its 40-35 is the same as Brooklyn's, but the Nets hold the tiebreaker. The Heat were just crushed at home by the Nets 129-100 on Saturday.

Toronto (37-38) is in ninth place. The Raptors are looking to get to the .500 mark for the first time since Dec. 9 when they were 13-13. Occasional starter Gary Trent Jr. (17.7 points per game) is questionable after missing the past three with an elbow injury. He was a limited participant at Monday's practice session.

The Raptors are 2-1 vs. the Heat but all three games took place very early in the season. Tuesday's game will be the 100th all-time regular-season meeting between the teams.
