While the Boston Celtics need every win they can get as they battle the Milwaukee Bucks for the Eastern Conference's top seed, it's not a huge surprise that Boston is resting star Jayson Tatum and 36-year-old fellow starter Al Horford tonight in the second game of a back-to-back in Cleveland. The Cavs were -2 at one point at Caesars Sportsbook, but are now -8.5.

Boston lost its second straight game Sunday, 131-129, in double overtime to the red-hot New York Knicks. Tatum had 40 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a whopping 49 minutes. It was his 10th 40-point game this season, and his 21 career 40-point games leave him tied with Paul Pierce for second-most in Celtics franchise history behind Larry Bird (47).

Without Tatum this year, the Celtics are 2-2 and averaging 113.3 points per game, compared to 43-18 and 118.0 PPG with him. Jaylen Brown is set at Over/Under 27.5 PPG tonight with Tatum on the bench. Guard Malcolm Brogdon, a Sixth Man of the Year candidate, will play after missing the past two.

Horford, meanwhile, had 29 points 14 rebounds and six assists in 46 minutes in Sunday's loss. He is one of only two active players with at least 18,000 points, 8,000 rebounds and 3,000 points, joining LeBron James. Boston is 35-16 with Horford in the lineup this year and 10-4 without him. The Celtics are a bit thin in the frontcourt, as center Robert Williams will be out a while with a strained left hamstring.

Cleveland sits fourth in the East, a game ahead of New York. Donovan Mitchell is questionable with a finger injury but was spotted at shootaround this morning and thus should play.

Mitchell played his 400th career game over the weekend and has recorded 1,158 3-pointers in his first 400 career games, marking the second-most triples made in NBA history in a player's first 400 career games. Mitchell has exactly 200 made 3-pointers this season, the fourth-most in the NBA. He's the second player in franchise history to reach 200 (JR Smith).

The Cavs lead the season series 2-1. The teams played last Wednesday in Boston and the Celtics won 117-113. Tatum had 41 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Horford had 23 points and 11 boards. Mitchell had 44 for the Cavs.
