76ers vs. Wizards Monday NBA injury report, odds: Joel Embiid in doubt and sportsbooks are hinting he will not play

The Sixers may be without superstar Joel Embiid tonight in Washington.

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star center and MVP candidate Joel Embiid is listed as questionable for tonight's game at the Washington Wizards with a non-COVID-19 illness that caused him to miss this morning's shootaround. The sportsbooks seem to think Embiid will sit out because this spread has been dropping all day – Philadelphia is currently -4 at Caesars Sportsbook. A few others have it at -3.5.

Embiid missed Friday's 112-90 victory against the Toronto Raptors as he rested his right knee but was back Saturday and scored a game-high 25 points in a 114-109 win over the Chicago Bulls. He hit the game-winning, 25-foot three-pointer with 18.1 seconds remaining. On the season, he's averaging 27.2 points and 9.5 rebounds. Caesars isn't listing any Embiid props for tonight.

The Sixers were 14-for-29 from deep against the Bulls and are now 14-1 since the 2020-21 season when making at least 14 three-pointers while shooting 45 percent or better from long range. Tyrese Maxey had a career-high 44 points against Chicago and had 27 of his points in the first half on 10-for-10 shooting. Maxey became only the fifth NBA player since 1996-97 to score at least 27 points on 100% shooting from the field in a half, joining Kyrie Irving, Penny Hardaway, Karl Malone and Yao Ming. On Monday, the team picked up Maxey's fourth-year option worth $4.3 million in 2023-23 in a no-brainer.

The Wizards will be without guards Corey Kispert and Delon Wright. The latter is out indefinitely due to a Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring.

It's the first meeting of the season between the teams. Washington won the series last year 2-1, its first time taking the series since sweeping the 76ers in the 2015-16 season. The Wizards are 24-9 in their last 33 regular season home games against Philadelphia dating back to 2004. Bradley Beal tied the franchise record when he scored 60 points against Philly on Jan. 6, 2021. Beal is set at Over/Under 20.5 points tonight.
