2022-23 NBA futures odds: Bucks favored for best regular-season record, Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP pauses for Election Day

Wondering why there are no NBA games on Tuesday?

Other than Christmas Eve, the NBA generally plays every day during the regular season excluding the All-Star break. However, there are no games tonight because it's Election Day and the socially conscious league decided it would not schedule any games to encourage fans to vote in their respective communities. So let's take a quick updated look as some NBA futures. Giannis Antetokounmpo is favored at Caesars Sportsbook to win a third career MVP, and his Bucks are also the favorites to finish with the league's best record.

"The scheduling decision came out of the NBA family's focus on promoting nonpartisan civic engagement and encouraging fans to make a plan to vote during midterm elections," the NBA said in a statement when announcing the schedule this summer. This is the first time the NBA has taken Election Day off.

Antetokounmpo is +225 to win MVP and Milwaukee +195 for the best record, although the Bucks and Celtics are both +500 to win the NBA title. The Bucks had gotten off to a franchise-best 9-0 start, the first team to start a season 9-0 since the Golden State Warriors began the 2014-15 season 24-0, but they were upset 117-98 in Atlanta on Monday even though the Hawks were without injured All-Star guard Trae Young.

Milwaukee has benefited from a favorable schedule, as seven of its first 10 games have been at home, and its opponents have a combined winning percentage of .368 (32-55), the softest schedule in the NBA this season.

The Greek Freak had 25 points and seven assists in Monday's loss but was minus-22. On the season, he's averaging 31.8 points (would be a career high), 12.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists while playing terrific defense – he's a +300 favorite for Defensive Player of the Year. He's shooting 54% and leads the NBA in total points in the paint while tied for the lead in fast-break points. Antetokounmpo is third in the league in scoring and is +350 to win that title. Keep in mind that the Bucks have been playing without All-Star guard Khris Middleton while he recovers from wrist surgery. He might debut in a week or so.

Luka Doncic leads the NBA in scoring at 36.0 PPG and is the -115 favorite for that title and +290 for MVP after entering the season as the favorite. Doncic has scored at least 30 points in all nine games, the second-longest such streak to begin a season in league history.

Orlando's Paolo Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, is the runaway favorite at -950 for Rookie of the Year, as he should be. For NBA Coach of the Year, there's a tie at +550 with Utah's Will Hardy – the Jazz were supposed to be unwatchable but are 9-3 – and Cleveland's J.B. Bickerstaff.
