Tuesday, September 12 MLB odds, props, trends: Bettors backing Phillies' Trea Turner, fading Angels' Patrick Sandoval

Here are the most-wagered MLB props Tuesday at DraftKings.

Arguably the game of the night around MLB is the Atlanta Braves taking on the Phillies in Philadelphia, featuring a stellar pitching matchup between Max Fried and Zack Wheeler. The most-wagered player prop on the board at DraftKings is from that matchup, on Phillies shortstop Trea Turner. The pitcher taking the most prop action tonight is the Angels' Patrick Sandoval in Seattle.

Atlanta already has clinched a playoff spot and its magic number to win the NL East is 4 after these two teams split a doubleheader on Monday. The second-place Phillies are 15 games back, so it's Wild Card or bust for them and they hold down the NL's top spot.

Turner Over 1.5 combined hits, runs and RBI (-140) is the top prop. The All-Star is batting .269 with 25 homers, 73 RBI and 26 steals. He is the first Philles player with at least 25 homers and at least 25 stolen bases in a season since Jimmy Rollins in 2007 (30 HR, 41 SB). Turner also has an on-base streak of 22 straight games after two hits in both of Monday's games.

It is the longest on-base streak by a Phillie since Kyle Schwarber reached in 31 straight games last year, and Turner is the first Phillies shortstop to have an on-base streak of at least 22 games since Rollins reached base in 38 straight games from Aug. 23, 2005, to April 5, 2006.

Against the Braves this year, Turner is 7-for-33 with a homer, five runs and five RBI. Atlanta's Fried (7-1, 2.70 ERA) is one of the NL's best pitchers, but Turner hammers him, batting .406 with a homer and two RBI in 32 career at-bats.

As for Sandoval, his Angels are well out of playoff contention despite having won three straight and handing Seattle a damaging 8-5 loss in 11 innings on Monday in the Pacific Northwest. Sandoval Under 17.5 outs -140 is the popular play as he has gone six full innings (18 outs) just twice in his past eight outings.

Sandoval is 0-4 with a 3.18 ERA in eight career starts spanning 45.1 innings vs. the Mariners and 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA this year after allowing five earned over five innings at Angel Stadium on June 10.

Tonight's other popular MLB player props at DraftKings:

Blue Jays' Hyun Jin Ryu Over 14.5 outs (-160) vs. Rangers: Ryu got a late start to the season off Tommy John surgery and has been great at 3-2 with a 2.65 ERA. He has topped 14.5 outs in six of his seven outings.

White Sox's Dylan Cease Under 7.5 strikeouts (-140) vs. Royals: Like most of the White Sox, Cease is having a terrible season. He struck out seven Royals in Kansas City last Tuesday and hasn't topped seven overall since July 22.

Rangers' Max Scherzer Over 5.5 strikeouts (-160) at Blue Jays: Scherzer has topped this number in five of seven starts since being traded to Texas.
