Snell gets a home start after striking out 10 last time and he'll get three lefties (most likely) in the lineup if we see James Wood, CJ Abrams and Daylen Lile. Wood and Abrams will strikeout vs. southpaws, and a few of the righties in here with solid season long stats have been striking out more of late vs. lefties. Since returning, Snell is pitching to a swinging strike rate above 15%, and has now exceeded 90 pitches in three straight starts. The price being around even money here is showing strong value.
The Nationals are scoring bunches in their wins, and have finished with two runs or fewer in nine straight defeats. All but one of those losses were by two-plus runs. Washington is more likely here to have issues vs. Blake Snell, who was 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in August. The Nats’ .502 road OPS the last 15 days is the worst in the league. Nats LHP Jackson Kent mowed down the Marlins over seven one-run innings last time out. But that was the first time in four starts he’s made it through five frames, and the Nats’ bullpen has a 7.22 ERA since mid-August.
