Bet365 @ -140. You can count me as one of Matthew Boyd’s biggest fans this season, having cashed in on his success a few times. However, I’m fading the southpaw on his strikeout line tonight against the Cardinals. Boyd has failed to clear this line in five of his last six games, with dwindling called plus swinging strike numbers. The Cardinals have struck out at a below average rate against lefties all season, and today will have five batters in the lineup that fit that mold.
It took a big five-run eighth inning on Saturday at Wrigley Field for the Cards to break their four-game slump in which they'd been outscored 24-3. But the rubber match of this weekend set vs. the Cubs looks a daunting task especially as St Louis starter Erick Fedde has been routed in his last two efforts (including June 25 vs. these same Cubs), allowing 14 runs and 18 hits across just 8 2/3 IP in a pair of losses (14.53 ERA and 2.65 WHIP that span...sheesh!). Meanwhile, Chicago's Sunday starter Matthew Boyd (8-3, 2.65 ERA) has been one of the most-pleasant surprises in MLB, and has posted a 1.66 ERA across his last seven outings. Play Cubs on Run Line
