The Mariners finally stirred a bit this week, getting a first series win vs. the Astros. There have been a few signs the offense is coming around but Seattle has still been a disappointment at the plate the past couple of weeks. Moreover, Friday starter Bryce Miller has looked decidedly subpar in his first two starts, as his 0-2 record, 5.73 ERA and 1.64 WHIP can attest. Meanwhile the 9-4 Rangers have only stumbled briefly this week at Wrigley Field (before recovering on Wednesday to beat the Cubs), and Jacob deGrom's first two starts have been somewhat encouraging, pitching into the sixth inning in each with a 3.38 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. The Rangers' offense was in a collective slump, but has started to bust out of it in the last two games. Even though Wyatt Langford is hurt, Josh Jung is back. Bryce Miller has been bad this year and they've hit him hard three of the four times they've seen him. Plus, the Rangers are the better team and Jacob deGrom gets the ball.
