Burnes was leaning a lot on the world-class cutter and his slider this season - and his K stats were down, hence this total - but he started throwing the curveball early in counts last time out and toyed with the Mariners. This is a proven 200 K guy and I could see him logging 10+ vs a Pale Hose lineup with plenty of swing and miss. O's pen is a mess and they need Burnes to start going 100+ pitches. Finally gave him some run support last time and he shoved. CHI 23% K rate healthy enough for him to go over this

The Baltimore bullpen made Birds Run Line-backers sweat one out in the 9th inning last night, almost blowing an 8-2 lead. In the end the O's had at least snapped their rare 3-game skid after getting swept in St Louis, and the Sox were doing little last night until that 9th inning uprising. That's par for the course lately for the Pale Hose, slumping again with losses in six of seven, and Friday starter Chris Flexen having lost some of that brief magic he flashed a few weeks ago.
