Yamamoto in a revenge spot v the clergy who lit him up in Seoul. His arm isn’t taxed and he should be ahead. Also in a pitcher friendly park. He should pitch into the sixth and an out
The Padres jumped the Japanese import in the kick-off series in Korea last month. That won't happen again. Yamamoto is in tremendous form and had a feel for the MLB baseball now and vs a division foe that roughed him up the first time, I have a hard time thinking he can't go 5 2/3 here. He's used to going deep in games in Japan and got up to 80 pitches last time out. I'm thinking he doesn't K 8 like he did then, which should make him more pitch efficient.
The exonerated (I guess?) Ohtani returns to Dodger Stadium to pulverize pitchers. He's 2/6 lifetime off Michael King from their time in the AL together, with 2 HRS and 3 driven in. He's heavily protected in this lineup. He's a run-producing machine who has ample time to get comfortable in his new surroundings and I anticipate backing him plenty during this homestand
Maybe Yamamoto doesn't like pitching in Korea because he was shelled by the Padres in his MLB debut in Seoul but has been great in two starts in the States since while averaging 6.5 Ks in those two. The righty hasn't topped five innings yet but his leash appears to get longer per outing.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto was rudely introduced to MLB by the Padres in Korea to start the year, but I'm betting on him getting some revenge here. Yamamoto has completed five innings in back to back starts, while eclipsing the 4.5 K's line in both. His pitch count grew to 80 last start and his projection is around 5.1 innings here, so he should have sufficient work to hit the over. Even against the Padres in that dreadful first start, he struck out two batters in just one inning. I'm encouraged by his 13% swinging strike rate and that he's only walked two batters in the 10 innings that followed his poor first start. Draftkings is 10 cents better than this price so shop around.
The Padres beat the crap out of the Dodgers starter in Korea to start the season, but Yamamoto is adjusting to MLB now and making batters look silly and has a feel for the different used over here. He'll be coming to send a message within the division here and I expect a dominant performance this time in LA. Plenty of Ks. I also like Ohtani to do damage against Michael King. This Dodgers team killed the ball during first homestand and I expect them to pick it up back in Chavez Ravine
