Volpe is atop that Yankees lineup today with Gleyber Torres sliding to sixth, and I almost expect Volpe to score in the first inning off journeyman Miami pitcher Ryan Weathers. Volpe is averaging nearly a run per game despite having hit down in the order in every other outing.
The Yankees failed to cash on the run line Tuesday, but I like their chances Wednesday against lefty Ryan Weathers. New York owns the second-best on-base percentage against southpaws, and was close to breaking open Tuesday's win, which ended 3-2. Look for another strong start by Marcus Stroman as the Yanks extend their hot start.
Juan Soto has exceeded this number in four consecutive games and seven of his past 10. The New York Yankees are ranked 10th in OPS against left-handed starters, while the Miami Marlins bullpen has an ERA of 5.50 so far this season. Soto hit a home run while going 3-for-5 against Ryan Weathers in his career. I also like Juan Soto over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI at -120 odds. Calm winds with higher humidity suggest that runs will be scored.
Soto saw enough of Ryan Weathers during his time in the AL to know he likes what he sees from this lefty. I don't mind lefty/lefty with a starter of this quality and Miami pen has only 2 lefties and 1 is a closer who I doubt gets work today. With a stud RHB in Aaron Judge behind Soto, I'm thinking Weathers has to attack Soto (3/5 with a HR off him). Given Soto's hot start, the bandbox he's playing in, how many Yanks are hitting well, and the Marlins atrocious pitching staff, getting almost 2-1 here feels rich. I'd consider sprinkling on the HR prop, also
Our torrid start to the MLB season has cooled off the last two nights playing sides (but props heating up!), so I'm going to try not to overthink this one. Miami is horrible and the Yanks are legit and Marcus Stroman has been great for them so far. Yanks 2nd in MLB with a 137 wRC+ vs lefties which will be bad news for Ryan Weathers. Soto owns him despite lefty/lefty match-up. Marlins weak pen already getting a lot of work.
