The Cubs are 5-16 in their last 21 road games, they have a .568 OPS this month, and I think they'll struggle generating offense against Jaime Barria (1.59 ERA). He has shined in his two starts, allowing one run over 10 innings with 12 strikeouts. Cubs starter Jameson Taillon has been very unlucky, but it still won't keep me off the Angels. LA is above average against right-handers and sports a .732 OPS this month.
The Angels won on Sunday to avoid a sweep, and rolled that momentum over to help them win again on Tuesday. Now they face Jameson Taillon, who didn't last 5 full innings in any start in May, but bounced back nicely last time out. I'm betting against back-to-back good starts for Taillon, and on the other side, Jaime Barria has been solid in two starts for the Angels, allowing six hits and one run through 10 innings (12 K's). LA is also 16-13 at home this year, while under .500 on the road. Shohei Ohtani went deep last night and Taillon has been bullied by lefties this year; look for him to lead the charge.
Won on the Angels Tuesday as they rallied from down 4-0 to win 7-4. Anthony Rendon made his return from the IL and was 0-for-2 with a walk. Starting pitcher Tyler Anderson wasn't great; hopefully Jamie Barria (2-2, 1.59) will be better tonight. The righty has largely been excellent but is no more than a five-inning pitcher. The Cubs have lost 16 of 21 away and start Jameson Taillon (1-3, 7.05). He was solid last time out vs. the Padres but clearly hasn't been strong overall. Shohei Ohtani homered Tuesday -- might be worth a look again as he has two solo shots off Taillon in 8 at-bats. Rendon and Hunter Renfroe also have good splits. Expect this to rise.
