I’m surprised to see the Cardinals are underdogs Thursday, considering they’ve now won eight straight games versus the Marlins. Miami’s Pablo Lopez made one start against the Cardinals last season, and even though he only gave up two runs, St. Louis ended up winning 7-0 off the Marlins' bullpen. This season, the Marlins' bullpen hasn’t been terrible, but they still have a 3.32 ERA. The Cardinals swept both series against the Marlins last season. Look for that trend to continue Thursday.
Both games in this series so far have gone Under, as did all of the contests between these teams last season. Both clubs are going with right-handed pitchers, as St. Louis starts Jordan Hicks against Miami's Pablo Lopez. The Cardinals' bullpen currently is ranked No. 1 with a collective 1.76 ERA this season, so the team should have no trouble limiting the Marlins if Hicks doesn't last long. With the added factor of the wind direction, I’ll take the Under.
