Yankees vs. Orioles line, picks: Advanced computer MLB model releases selections for Thursday matchup

SportsLine's projection model generated selections for Thursday's matchup between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles

By@SportsLinePublished: May 19, 2022 3:05PM UTC . 2 min read

The New York Yankees aim to sweep the Baltimore Orioles in an afternoon tilt at 12:35 p.m. ET on Thursday. New York is listed as a -210 favorite (risk $210 to win $100) at Caesars Sportsbook, while the Over-Under is set at eight (see up-to-date odds for every game this week on our MLB odds page).

Before making any Yankees vs. Orioles picks, you NEED to check out the MLB predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every MLB game 10,000 times and it is off to a profitable start to the 2022 season. It's on a 33-25 roll on top-rated MLB money-line picks through six weeks, returning over $300 for $100 players. Anyone following it has seen HUGE returns!

The model knows the Yankees have a high-powered offense. New York ranks near the top of the American League in runs scored, home runs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. The Yankees also have an elite bullpen, sitting atop the AL in wins above replacement from relief pitchers. New York can take solace in Jordan Montgomery's presence on the mound as well, with the 29-year-old posting a 3.06 ERA across seven starts with 29 strikeouts and only eight walks this season.

The model also knows the Orioles also have an above-average bullpen, and that Baltimore can be confident in its starting pitcher on Thursday. 27-year-old left-hander Bruce Zimmermann takes the ball for the Orioles, and he has a 2.72 ERA in 2022. In seven starts, Zimmermann has 32 strikeouts and only nine walks. He also boasts a 1.80 ERA in four home starts, giving even more confidence in Baltimore, and left-handed hitters have a dismal .441 OPS against him.

Now, it has set its sights on Yankees vs. Orioles. We can tell you the model is leaning over the total, and it also says one side has ALL the value! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any MLB picks.
