Week 5 QB power rankings: Betting the MVP race, rest of season projections, how to treat injuries and full tiers
We analyze the state of the quarterback position heading into Week 4 of the 2023 NFL season
To help sort things out, the NFL scheduling gods conveniently matched up so far the premier quarterbacks in Week 4.
Buffalo's Josh Allen entered the season atop our rankings, thanks in small part to Patrick Mahomes' clunker in his Thursday night opener before the ratings were compiled. Miami's Tua Tagovalioa leapfrogged Allen last week by the skinniest of margins. So it was likely that the better performer — ideally on the winning team — Sunday would begin this week ruling the roost.
Allen made it easy for us. He was sensational (21-for-25, 320 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions) and so was his team. Tagovailoa was mortal, for once. He missed 11 of 35 throws, threw an interception and took four sacks.
With the pecking order at the top clear-cut, here is our weekly ranking of starting QBs, along with each player's MVP odds if applicable, a QB2 rating that indicates how much a team's power rating is downgraded if the starter is out, and projected fantasy points per game.
