Week 5 NFL power ratings: How to value all 32 teams, including Steelers without Kenny Pickett, for ATS picks

Get the edge over the sportsbooks in Week 5 and beyond by developing a power rating system to stay ahead of the lines

Week 4 claimed another quarterback, with Kenny Pickett being knocked out of the blowout loss against the Texans with a knee injury. It appears he has avoided a worst-case scenario, but with Pittsburgh off in Week 6, it would make all the sense in the world for the team to keep him out of action and give him two full weeks to heal before preparing for a Week 7 return. His level of play so far will likely lead some people to say the likely move to Mitchell Trubisky this week could be a net gain for the Steelers offense. I give my take on the situation below and how much I'm adjusting the line.

One quarterback who continues to play through an injury is Joe Burrow, and it's resulted in the Bengals having the lowest yards per play mark in the league (4.0). In retrospect, sitting Burrow for the first few games would've likely done Cincinnati a world of good, but at 1-3 the pressure is on for him to continue going out there so that the Bengals don't sink further into a hole. The lookahead line for Cincy's Week 5 matchup with the Cardinals was Bengals -7, but it's all the way down to Bengals -3 with the state of the Cincy offense. I'll give you my line projection for that game and every other Week 5 matchup below along with my spread power ratings for every team.

If you need a refresher on how to build spread power ratings, why they're important for beating the market and how successful I've been with this system at SportsLine, check out the Week 1 version of these power ratings. You can also check out SportsLine on Sunday afternoons as I give my initial power ratings adjustments for each team to get ahead of the market openers before diving in fully for this Tuesday feature. Otherwise, we'll jump right in.
