Sunday brought the second stop on Jalen Hurts' four-game tour against other elite quarterbacks. We can only assume he drew extra motivation to exit the second tier of our weekly QB ratings and join the top group. Splendid showings against upper-class peers could help make it happen.

The first challenge hardly enhanced his campaign. Though Philadelphia downed Kansas City and No. 1-rated Patrick Mahomes a week ago, his stat line did not jump off the screen.

Then came Buffalo and third-ranked Josh Allen. Allen, much as Mahomes did, had the flashier stats. But Hurts, as Mahomes did not, got the victory.

This one ended spectacularly, with Hurts dashing for the winning touchdown in overtime. He scored on two runs totaling 21 yards, essentially matching Allen's pair of TD rushes for a combined 25. Three of Hurts' 18 completions ended in scores, and he amassed 85 yards with his legs. In a word, he was outstanding.

It counts for something in our pecking order that Philly owns the league's best record (10-1) and just equaled the historical feat of rallying for four consecutive wins after trailing at halftime.

The next station on Hurts' tour is against the overachieving Brock Purdy of San Francisco. It concludes opposite Dallas' Dak Prescott. For now, the Eagle has earned a promotion to our premier tier. Welcome to the club, Jalen.
