Former welterweight title contender Darren Till continues his run toward a title shot at middleweight Saturday when he takes on surging veteran Derek Brunson in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Till. The main card is set for 4 p.m. ET from the Apex facility in Las Vegas.

The winner between the No. 5-ranked Brunson and No. 7-ranked Till could be in line for a title shot against sitting champion Israel Adesanya, who has shown a willingness to take on all worthy challengers and already has made three successful title defenses.

Till (18-3-1) has gone from overnight sensation to a question mark in a few short years. He was undefeated when he faced then-champion Tyron Woodley for the welterweight bout, but was outclassed and stopped in the second round. He was brutally finished by fan favorite Jorge Masvidal in his next fight before moving up to middleweight, in large part due to constant struggles in making the 170-pound welterweight limit.

He is 1-1 in two outings at middleweight, with the win coming in a lackluster decision against journeyman Kelvin Gastelum. He also lost a lopsided decision to former champ Robert Whittaker. Brunson (22-7), meanwhile, has shed his gatekeeper status on the strength of four consecutive victories against quality opponents.
