Kentucky Derby 2026 preview
Renegade, trained by Todd Pletcher, is the morning line favorite for this year's race at 5-1. The colt has had a great year thus far, winning the Sam F. Davis Stakes in February by 3 3/4 lengths and the Arkansas Derby by 4 lengths in March.
Louisville native and trainer Brad Cox also has two of the three top favorites in the field in Further Ado (6-1) and Commandment (6-1). Further Ado is coming off a win in the Blue Grass Stakes on April 4. Commandment won the Florida Derby on March 28.
Trainer Bill Mott, whose horse Sovereignty won the Kentucky Derby last year, has another contender in the field this year, headlined by Chief Wallabee at 8-1 on the morning line at TwinSpires. Bill's son Riley has two other horses in the Derby: Incredibolt (25-1) and Albus (40-1).Â
Chief Wallabee most recently finished third in the Florida Derby behind Commandment and The Puma. Incredibolt won his last race, which was the Virginia Derby on March 14.
